About me
Since August 2021, Rachel Scott has served as President & CEO for Coburn Place Safe Haven, Indiana’s largest provider of housing and supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and their children. There, she has led the organization’s recovery from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic that created record demand for services and upended traditional staffing and services models. Her leadership team has reset the organization’s mission, vision, and values, redesigned the client journey and related services, and made significant strides in improving a strained organizational culture. She takes a special interest in fund and donor development, ensuring high-functioning internal systems, recruiting and retaining quality team members, and working to ensure that survivors have the tools and experiences they need to live a life free from violence. Prior to Coburn Place, Rachel served as Chief Strategy Officer for Indiana United Ways, the nation’s largest state association for United Ways. Previously, she held leadership roles for the State of Iowa, expanding college access for low-income students, serving as Governor’s Policy Liaison on Education and Workforce, and heading the state’s Commission on the Status of Women. She has also served as a consultant for organizational development and public policy within multi-client firms and as an independent consultant. Rachel was the first generation in her family to attend college and is a childhood and adult survivor of domestic violence. She holds Master’s degrees in English and Public Administration from Truman State University and Drake University, respectively. She enjoys practicing hot yoga.
