About me
Elka is a Certified Violence Interventionist, Grant Writer, and member of the Executive Directorship Team at the Center for Nonviolence in Fort Wayne. She holds a B.A. in English and Sociology, a B.S. in Secondary Education, and a Master's degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Critical Literacy Studies, Sociology, and Rhetoric. Elka is a long-time community advocate on behalf of justice and liberation issues in Fort Wayne and has served on the United Way Inclusiveness Cabinet, the United Way Standards Review Team, the It Is Well with My Soul Program Planning Team, the Three Rivers Institute of Afrikan Art and Culture Board of Directors, and was a co-founding member of the Northeast Indiana LGBTQ Coalition. She currently serves on the ICADV Board of Directors, the People of Afrikan Descent Advisory Group at CfN, the Fort Wayne Multicultural Council, the Fort Wayne Community Influencers Coalition, and teaches Black Literature and History at Indiana Tech University, Fort Wayne.
